Course

The Mutlisport Race course is a fully marked, spectacular course consisting of three legs covering the three disciplines: Mountain Biking, Trail Running and Kayaking.

Mountain bike leg

The race starts with 26 km of mountain bike leg. The race begins with a few hundred meters of non-competitive riding behind the officials’ car on the streets of Lake Entrance, before a start horn signals the start of racing. Once you begin, you will follow a sealed road uphill until after a few kilometers you will find yourself on less known paths. A combination of 4WD tracks and single tracks will bring you to a dedicated mountain bike park in the Colquhoun State forest. Technical biking gurus will be able to make a move on these awesome single tracks. The transition area is not far off but you will spend some time flowing the trails before starting the next leg of the race.

Trail running leg

After finishing the bike ride, your run will consist of 16 km of running on off-road trails and hidden paths. You’ll start on single tracks then follow part of the Discovery trail towards Lakes Entrance, before turning off to spent a couple of kilometers in the wild bush with steep gullies and narrow single tracks. You’ll soon head back across the same sealed road from the mountain bike leg, before sneaky paths will lead you along the northern arm of the beach, back down to the Transition Area where you started. Catch your breath then quickly grab your kayak for the final leg.

Kayaking leg

The kayaking leg loop begins not far from the race HQ and consists of a loop around Rigbys Island, navigating your craft across the Entrance, either clockwise or anticlockwise depending on the tide. It’s a spectacular circuit, including some exciting fast flowing sections across the Entrance where safety crew will be patrolling their rescue craft to help you as required.
